The Nags Head Report

  History

The ‘Nags’ has a rich history as a coaching Inn that was a prominent place of refuge for Royalist soldiers during the English Civil War. It has had a chequered history as a less than salubrious drinking establishment until more recent years.

  What we might expect

It is a favourite ‘haunt’ of one of the team and for many years had claims of haunting phenomena. Lee 2 (landlord and part of a business partnership with Graham) told Lee a story about the apparition of a woman that appears in foggy weather within the bar area accompanied with the smell of flowers.
Lee (2) also spoke of a strange missing room full of junk. When he helped the previous landlord clear the cave area of junk in his capacity of head bar staff they came across a bricked wall that they put through revealing a small room containing more junk. When they returned a while later they were somewhat confused that they could not determine where this room had disappeared to. The only other story prior to investigation was the general sense of ‘something’ in the caves. See General Analysis

Wayne and Lee did a brief visit one lunch time in the summer and Wayne felt ‘something’ in the bar which coincidentally, was the same area where the apparition of the woman was said to have appeared (not revealed to the group by Lee). See General Analysis
Weather conditions
The weather was fine, dry and relatively warm. There was some water in the caves that made for slippery conditions.
