History |
|
The
Newmarket was an old 'Gin Palace' and is still a working pub.

What
we might expect

|
|
Wayne
and Lee visited the pub in the summer to see if Wayne could pick up on
anything. Lee heard someone clear their throat in the empty gent’s
toilet. He tried to debunk it as someone in the courtyard which was empty.
Could it be someone in the car park behind the pub or upstairs? The windows
were open, so possibly, but it did sound very close. Wayne was asked to
go to the gent’s and wasn’t told any further information and
had a similar experience.

Paul
1 (the current landlord) told Lee on a separate occasion that Bron (his
partner) feels very uncomfortable in the corridor area leading to and
around the toilets and will not close the door to the courtyard when she
is on her own for that reason. Lee withholds that information from the
rest of the team so as not to prejudice any experiences or evidence gathered.

The
Chef told Lee that he has experienced the phenomenon of his favorite knife
going missing in the kitchen and re-appearing in places he would not have
ordinarily have put it down. Is this just absent mindedness or genuine
activity? The kitchen may be a good area for investigation.
Jerry and Pete the previous landlords have heard noises in the cellar.
Pete told Lee a story that he was doing some welding and his gas bottle
kept being turned off (exact location unclear). For those who don’t
know, it does require some force to physically twist the shut off valve
on a gas bottle. This happened about three times until Pete spoke to the
‘ether’ and not so politely asked whatever it was to stop
it.
Paul 1 also mentioned to Lee that the hand drier in the disabled toilets
will go off without anyone present. This could be easily debunked and
needs further investigation. He also mentioned that the stereo volume
will go up and upon investigation the dial had been moved. Again, all
this information was kept from the rest of the team.
